Malaysia's federal government has issued the "E-Cigarette Product Description (Certification and Labeling) Order 2022," which states that beginning August 3, 2022, all e-cigarettes/ vaping products, whether locally manufactured or imported, must apply for SIRIM certification.

The SIRIM certification symbol should be mounted to vaping equipment, e ciga, spare parts, and other device containers, according to the order, such that the user may easily see it. The SIRIM certification mark signifies that the equipment is safe to use and meets all safety requirements.
Consequences of Violating Regulations for E cig Law
Any individual or e-cigarette company who violates this Act will suffer financial or criminal consequences. Companies breaking the legislation face fines of up to RM200,000. The fine for repeat violators might be as much as RM500,000. Individuals can be fined up to RM100,000, imprisoned for up to three years, or both if convicted. Repeat offenders face a fine of up to RM250,000, a five-year prison sentence, or both.
E cig Marketing in Malaysia
According to a study conducted by the Malaysian Vaping Chamber of Commerce (MVCC), the vaping industry in Malaysia is worth RM2.27 billion, and it has become a booming industry in Malaysia, accounting for 42 percent of the overall tobacco market – more than illicit cigarettes (37 percent) and legal cigarettes combined (21 percent share).
